Work Packages

The project have (5) work packages (WPs) targeting to four (4) specific objectives:

1. To understand what methods exist for the development of practical, art-based tools combined with physical exercises for people working with children in sports.
2. To complement the knowledge, skills and education to increase the children experience of belonging to a group.
3. To encourage the participation in and adherence to sports and physical activities to increase the physical activity, health and wellbeing for all children while decreasing the drop-out rate.
4. To strengthen the ties between sports organisations, clubs, athletes, children, parents and everyone involved in sports.
1. Project management and reporting activities

This task deals with the daily management and control of JOY, as well as the liaison with the funding agency and external organizations and coordination of the internal information flow, including arranging a central and safe repository for all partners to access relevant project documentation.

2. Ethics requirements
This task sets out and follows the ethics requirements that the project must comply with. Under this activity the project’s Ethics and Privacy Protection guidelines will be drafted where the guiding principles and the main procedures regarding privacy, data protection, legal issues and ethical challenges will be included.
3. Data and IPR management
Within this task, the type of data expected through the course of the project will be analysed and a data management plan will be established. This plan will identify best practices and specific standards, taking into account ethical and IPR relateld constraints, for the access, storage and curation of the data that will be collected during all the project’s related activities.
4. Quality Assurance
This task will look at the quality of the work carried out, deliverables and documentation for all WPs (1-5). The work will be overseen by a beneficiary other than the Coordinator in order to minimise conflicts of interest.

Mapping and developing and evaluation of inclusive sport and art-based practices

1. Review and analyze methods that promote the sense of inclusion in sports for children
In this task we will use the co-creation method to map the most suitable evidence-based methods to promote inclusion in sports.
2. Review and analyze physical exercise methods which can be combined with art-based methods
In this task we will use the co-creation method to map the most suitable evidence based combinations of physical exercises and art based methods in sports.
3. Summarise findings and choose approach for piloting in the Coaches Educational Pack

In this task we will summarise our findings from the best practices’ analysis and devise an approach to combine exercise and art- based methods. This will be called the Coaches Educational Pack (CEP) 1.0 and will contain the initial guidelines for the sport clubs to pilot our combination approach.

4. Data collection of discriminative and bullying behaviour in sport clubs before the deployment of Joy’s approach
In this task we will conduct a survey to find out the current situation in bullying, discrimination in the participating sport clubs to provide a baseline for our intervention. With the surveys we will define the amount and quality of aforementioned behavior.

Piloting the combination of sport and art-based activities

1. Planning and preparing pilots
This task is important for choosing the teams and clubs to be involved in the piloting considering the countries, different sports, genders, disabled/abled/mixture and different methods, planning time schedules for pilots in each partner countries. Approximately 30 pilots will be completed. Involvement and getting the consent from target group for pilots. Preparing the evaluation method (survey/interview) to collect the feedback from the pilots.
2. Piloting chosen methods

This task completes the pilots as planned in task planning and preparing pilots.
Evaluating the outcome of pilots
This task we will conduct a survey to find out the current situation in bullying, discrimination in the participating sport clubs to check whether we have reached our targets and the expected quality. The findings will provide the content for the creation of the Educator’s Pack in WP4.

One Educational Pack will be developed, available in 6 languages (English, Estonian, Finnish, Polish, Portuguese and Turkish)

1. Signing off engagement principles, pedagogical approaches and methods
On the basis of evaluation of the pilots the consortium will agree on pedagogical principles and methods to be included in the pack. All cultural and context specific differences will be accommodated to be aligned with the key philosophy but allow the initiative of the coaches in planning their art-based interventions.
2. Designing reflective practice protocols
In this task TUAS will design electronic portfolio structures guiding the coaches in recording their interventions in a way serving their reflective practice and helping them to find support with incidents putting them at risk of burnout or mitigation.
3. Designing, editing and finalizing the pack

In this task TUAS will design the pack and prepare the English version while the partners will modify and translate the material to be disseminated in their countries.

Roadmap to Policy Influencing.

1. Website and social media

Website containing all public material and findings produced throughout the Joy project. The website aims to target sport clubs, managers, coaches, providing them the necessary material to implement the approach found and, therefore, decrease the discrimination and increase the sense of Joy of children playing sports.

2. Dissemination Materials

Production of dissemination materials for sport clubs and dissemination events. Material will be produced in English and then translated into project partners languages. All materials are meant to be used not only project partners, but also any external stakeholder. Downloaded versions are below:

Downloadable materials in all project partners languages.

3. White paper

Policy recommendations for governments and policy makers describing:
– the need for an approach that decreases discrimination and increases the sense of Joy children have in sports
– advising how this approach can be implemented.

DELIVERABLE 5.3

4. Dissemination events
Multiplier events to display and discuss with invited stakeholders (e.g., sport clubs representatives, local government representatives, coaches, managers, etc.) the issues around this topic and the findings from the Joy project. Each country will have its own event to ensure local, grass-root level communities are reached.
